Another common reason why people snore is the fact that many individuals sleep on their back.

If you haven't tried sleeping on your stomach or side, perhaps that is something to take on. More than likely those snorers are back sleepers, and this makes a good recipe for snoring. Everything relaxes in the back of your throat causing you to snore, so try a new position and you might be surprised how little you snore.

If you do have snoring issues, it could be something more ominous and you may want to get checked out. Many cities now have sleep specialists that can analyze your sleeping patterns to help make a determination.

You are certainly at risk if you do have sleep apnea. This is an issue that could ultimately be fatal if left unchecked. Major health problems can arise if you stop breathing in your sleep, including heart issues and problems with circulation. If you are short of breath at night, you should see a specialist as soon as possible.

A few other items that can help you sleep more effectively are your mattress and box springs. Try a new memory foam mattress if your mattress isn't cutting it. Also buy a heated mattress pad if you are out camping or traveling.
