Conductive Paints

Conductive paint is utilized for making non-conductive materials surface conductive. Materials like plastics, ceramics, resins and organic items can be made surface conductive by applying an outer coat of conductive layer paint. Organic items like bone, cloth, plants, wood and even leather baby shoes can be plated with electro-plating once coated with a conductive surface paint.

These paints are made by adding metal powder to a binder. The least costly of these paints use copper or nickel as a conductor. Nickel has great corrosive resistance, but comparatively low conductivity. The higher end paints use silver powder, platinum, or even gold in a number of cases. Silver coated copper powders and hybrid part silver and part silver coated pigments perform near the efficiency of pure silver pigments effectively lower the cost of pure silver powder conductive paint. The better paints contain at least 80% conductive solids.

Rash static discharge and external circuit interference is a serious concern for all industries. Airlines, military and other refueling operations need repeated and trusty static control. Refueling dock floors are painted with conductive surface materials to govern static discharge. Uncontrolled static arcing could ignite fuel vapors and lead straight to a major fire or explosion.

Solar cells are continuously exposed to deleterious solar energy that overtime delaminates solar power cells and decreases or destroys the energy making capacities of individual cells and at last renders the solar cell inoperative. Sustained panel replacement effectively decreases the overall potency of solar electricity generation as a whole. Conductive paints are instrumental in reducing delamination by channeling solar power around active elements.

The music biz requires feedback control over the numerous electronic pick-ups on musical instruments. Before conductive paint this customarily needed copper plate forming to line the pick up cavities of electric guitars and other increased instruments. Water based latex automobiles replace solvent carriers on solution delicate plastics.

Scanning electron microscopy depends upon the example being part of a completed circuit. A carbon conductive organic lacquer suspension is used to complete the circuit thru the scanned example. The specimen becomes part of the circuit and allows electrons to flow over the example resulting in a magnified electron pattern.

Conductive paints serve many purposes in industry primarily as a simply applied shielding coating that permits decrease in device dimensions and weight while supplying superior device performance.
