Natural Energy Solutions Do Have Some Disadvantages

With most things, you are advised to weigh the positive aspects against the disadvantages, and take the data to make your decision. When you do this with Green Energy Sources, there are actually disadvantages, but none as terrible as the possibility of running out of energy. Whether or not there is in fact global warming, we should not shun the idea of employing green energy sources. You would like to use green energy because they are generally clean and do not send anything toxic into the air. Contrary to fossil fuels such as oil, green energy is definitely renewable so we would never run out of it.

The hardest factor about green energy, is that the original start up cost is really quite expensive, but there after, it doesn't take nearly as much to continue to operate it. Another draw back is the volume of energy that can be generated may be inconsistent. While solar and wind power can produce electricity, if there are times of cloudy days or there is no wind, these sources may not be able to generate enough power. Some believe that constructing wind turbines will cause the amount of farmland to be decreased. Other styles of green energy are not sensible for every place like wave energy can only be set up in locations that get 16 feet or higher waves. In locations that are not really geologically unstable, it is not possible to setup a geothermal energy.

But if carefully structured, there are many workarounds that would allow green energy to happen. For example, wind turbines can be set up in the vicinity of coastal waters and have shown to generate an even more dependable amount of electricity than in other landscapes. Weather might not be able to always be controlled, however the disturbances don't last every day, and at some point they pass. When the sun is covered and solar power is being used, stored energy will be used after the emergency generators are activated. Although it can happen, it is not going to happen as long as there are people in power who don't want to do it until it's too late. We have to proceed to do research to improve our current technology in order to discover new green energy sources.

Japan and Hawaii are applying ocean thermal energy, that is power generated by harnessing different temperatures of the water. The methods of energy used in the United States is currently from only about 7% natural sources. It was higher than that 11 years ago, but the concern pertaining to running out of energy seems to go up and down. When things appear serious, people want to look for other possibilities but once things settle, everything goes back to the status quo.

You can find many natural sources for producing energy, such as the wind, water, solar, geothermal, bio-diesel and biomass. Once corporations can find a way to profit from these sources as they can with oil, then you will find a big push for these green energy sources. If oil all of a sudden dried out, then the oil companies would be scrambling to find methods to benefit from a particular source. The sad part is actually these companies are just looking to profit than to be beneficial citizens of the earth.
