Global Warming - True Crisis or Pure Hype?

We've been hearing the warnings of global warming problems for quite some time now. Green living is being promoted to help stop some of global warming effects and save the environment.

The question is whether those threats are just a hype to further political awareness or are they real? When we speak of global warming, we refer to the earth's temperature near the surface air. As it absorbs some of the heat from the sun, it allows the earth to be habitable.

Greenhouse gases that have been released into the earth's atmosphere are contributing to the rise in the surface air temperature. What is the impact this is having on the earth? According to scientists, the average temperature in the last century has risen. They think that the increase came in the last couple of decades. Scientists also believe that the rise will continue at a faster pace for the future since the increase is steadily rising.

Over time, arctic ice is slowly disappearing. The warmer temperatures caused by the global warming effects are melting the ice. Polar bears are feeling the effects of the melting ice as they find themselves stranded in the middle of the open sea. Ultimately, these polar bears are losing their life by drowning in the seas trying to find more ice patches to climb onto.

Because of the melting of the ice, there's a rise in the sea levels. Even though currently the rise is a small amount, in the future if will be a problem because the temperatures are soaring at a rapid rate. Flooding may occur based on the rise of water levels, and pumping it out of the areas where people live may be difficult. Precipitation is increasing as well.

Also increasing over time is the amount of snowfall and rainfall. Storms have become more abundant and intense. Hurricanes will not only occur more often and be stronger, there's also a chance they'll reach farther inland.

The warming temperatures also causes more evaporation to happen. The more evaporating we see, the more chances for these storms to develop, which could ultimately result in the high category hurricanes, we're seeing today. Driving people from their flooded homes are heavier rainfalls which would probably occur.

Also seeing hardships are the ecosystems. Slowly moving north are some species of animals looking for livable conditions, while the numbers of other species are slowly dwindling and struggling to survive extinction.

Even if only slow effects are being shown by global warming, unless we start to reverse it, they will increase over time. By using some green living methods in our daily lives, we can slow down those disastrous effects to save the planet for our heirs.
