We all know that nutrition specialists and doctors are telling us that cakes are full of bad-for-you sugar and other ingredients, but what only a few knows is that they are great for our physical and mental health also.

Cakes are the health demons. That's what we have been led to believe. With all the sugars, calories, and fats they have, it's no question they are believed to be bad for us. Because they are rich, irresistible, and oh so tempting, they are oftentimes referred to as decadent and sinful. But even if they are regarded as the devil incarnate for some, cakes, even the most decadent ones, actually have heavenly effects for our body.

Naturally it depends on what kind of cake is under discussion. While specialists say eating chocolate cakes, especially the dark kind, is good for you when taken in moderation, there's also something good to be said with the fruity kind.

But whatever kind of cake you wish, as long as you wish it, is still healthy for you. You might ask if how is that possible. We're talking about mental wellness. Refusing yourself the rich and luscious chocolate overload cake would just make you feel disappointed.

For all the negative things that have been mentioned about eating succulent desserts like cakes, only a few has been said about its wellness benefit. Indulging in the heavy delight every occasionally, especially in sweets like cakes you eat after every meal, can give you a sense of pleasure and happiness.

More than just flour, sugar, and icing with candles on top, cakes signify the celebration itself and why it is being celebrated. They also stand for happiness and togetherness when shared among guests.

Diet can lead to depression, depriving yourself of the food that you like can lead to depression. A no-brainer answer to combating depression is by doing things that make you feel good. If you desire to eat your favorite dessert right now, go ahead. Your body will thank you for it as it will release positive and happy chemicals.

When you are dieting, you may consider cakes as the demons. But giving into the temptation every now and then isn't all bad. Not only is it not completely bad, it is also great for you at times. So go ahead and dig in. Sink your teeth into the soft, lush dark chocolate cake that you know you can't refuse. You would be glad that you gave in.
